Consul General Ma Qiang Champions Liaocheng---South Ayrshire Friendly Co-operation Relationship

On 30 June, Chinese Consul General Ma Qiang joined the virtual signing ceremony of the establishment of the friendly and co-operation relationship between Liaocheng City and South Ayrshire Council.

Consul General offered his congratulations to the two cities and thanked those who worked hard to bring this partnership together, particularly Ms Ying Zhang and the team at the Scotland-China Innovation and Technology Association.

Consul General said that local exchanges are an important part of the comprehensive development of China-UK relations. Liaocheng and South Ayrshire can work together to deliver tangible results in areas of agriculture, science and technology, education and tourism. He expects the two sides to fully capitalize on the opportunities brought by the signing and looks forward to celebrating further success.

Provost Helen Moonie of South Ayrshire and Mayor Li Changping of Liaocheng City both acknowledged the growing links as well as their joint response to the pandemic. They vowed to promote closer ties so as to further enrich the mutually beneficial co-operation.

Martin McDermott, the Scottish Government's representative in China, added the government's congratulations before hailing the event as a huge step forward in the win-win relationship between South Ayrshire and Liaocheng. He believed the co-operation will further benefit from the support of Scottish Development International.
