Consul General Pan Xinchun Visits Abertay University

Consul General Pan Xinchun visited Abertay University on 3 May 2017 at the invitation of the Principal and Vice Chancellor Professor Nigel Seaton. The two sides had a cordial meeting.

 

Principal Seaton warmly welcomed Consul General Pan and briefed him on the general information about Abertay University and its cooperation with Chinese counterparts. He said that Abertay was the first University in the world to offer a computer games degree. It works closely with international renowned companies and fosters talents for the computer game industry in the world. The university attaches great importance to working with China. At present, some Chinese universities and companies have established good cooperation with Abertay University in games development postgraduate programme. Principal Seaton said the university looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China to develop new partnership and attract more Chinese students.

Consul General Pan expressed his sincere thanks for the invitation and spoke highly of the achievements made by the University in its cooperation with Chinese universities. He said that with the rapid development of China-Scotland relations, all the Scottish universities have established cooperative relationship with Chinese universities in various fields. With its strengths in subjects such as games design and development, ethical hacking, Abertay's cooperation with China will not only help explore huge potentials of computer game markets in China, but also contribute to the cooperative education as well as cultural and creative industry cooperation between China and Scotland. He wished to gain deeper mutual understanding and seek more opportunities for cooperation between the two sides through the visit. 

During the visit, Consul General Pan had a tour of the Ethical Hacking Lab and Centre of Excellence in Computer Games and watched the demonstrations accompanied by the Principal.
