Chinese Consul General Pan Xinchun Attends Scotland China Association Presentation of Certificates
|On June 15, Scotland China Association (SCA) Primary Schools Chinese Competition Prizegiving was held in the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). Chinese Consul General Pan Xinchun attended the event, presenting certificates to the winners.
Consul General Pan extended warm congratulations to the winners, saying he is very pleased to see so many students taking active parts in the contest to learn and use Chinese language which has been increasingly popular due to the development of friendly relations between China and Scotland. Mr. Pan paid tribute to unremitting efforts made by SCA, RZSS and the Confucius Institutes in Scotland to promote Chinese language and deepen understanding and friendship between peoples in China and UK. He encouraged Scottish primary students to continue to learn Chinese so as to become young ambassadors promoting China-Scotland cultural exchanges.
First held in 1986, SCA Primary Schools Chinese Competition once adopted 'China Dragon' and 'Bejing Olympic Games' as its themes, seeing an increasing number of students enrolled and the upturn in contenders' Chinese proficiency as Chinese language teaching flourishes in Scotland. Before the presentation, a teacher from RZSS gave students a vivid and interesting class in pandas.
