Consul General Ma Qiang Meets Scott Wightman of Scottish Government

Mr. Ma Qiang, Chinese Consul General in Edinburgh, met Mr. Scott Wightman, Director for External Affairs at Victoria Quay on 12th November 2019.

Consul General thanked for hosting him at the Directorate of External Affairs, speaking highly of the effort made by the Scottish Government to promote Sino-Scottish relations. CG said that the strong links and fruitful cooperation between the two sides had long been underpinned by three versions of China Engagement Strategy. Chinese Consulate stands ready to work with the Department to contribute a new share.

Scott Wightman welcomed CG and wished him all the best in office. Mr. Wightman said that the Scottish Government attaches great importance to its engagement with China. Scotland expects to strengthen collaborations with China on addressing global issues such as climate change and sustainable development.
