Consul General Ma Qiang Holds Virtual Meeting with Sir Jim McDonald of Strathclyde University

On 19 January 2021, Chinese Consul General Ma Qiang had a video call with Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal of the University of Strathclyde, the two exchanged views on China-Scotland educational cooperation and the University links with China.

Consul General recognized the important role the University plays in strengthening the relations between China and Scotland by virtue of its excellence in research and education and the fruitful partnership with institutions in China. The Consulate General stands ready to work closely with the University to intensify exchanges and cooperation across the board in a bid to boost Sino-Scottish ties.

Sir McDonald expressed that the University has always attached great importance to connections with China and has benefited greatly from these exchanges. It will further enhance cooperation with Chinese universities, research institutions and enterprises to make the engagement in education, science and technology, culture and green development more productive.

Consul General and the Principal also talked about the effort to protect Chinese students from the pandemic, hate crime and telecom fraud.
