The Consulate-General Holds Digital Event Marking The Year of The Ox
On 9 February, the Consulate-General of the PRC in Edinburgh celebrated the upcoming Chinese New Year online with about 140 guests across Scotland.
Consul General Ma Qiang wished everyone in Scotland good health, happiness and success in the Year of the Ox. He reflected on the remarkable achievements made by the Chinese government and people in fighting the pandemic and advancing the social and economic development. He also highlighted the opportunities ahead to bring China-Scotland relations to a new level, where the two sides will work together to address common global challenges including the pandemic and climate change.
Scott Wightman, Director for the External Affairs of the Scottish Government and Frank Ross, Lord Provost of Edinburgh sent their best CNY wishes. Speaking highly of the resilient and fruitful cooperation between China and Scotland, they are committed to a stronger all-round Sino-Scottish ties in 2021.
Representatives from the Chinese Community shared the CNY wishes and thanked for the support and help from the Consulate-General.
The virtual reception was followed by an extensive programme of video shows to bring some unique Chinese festivities.
